IntroductionThe Centre for Criminal Justice Pietermaritzburg is frequently asked for examples of cases, which coordinators deal with at the Community Outreach Progamme's Outreach/Support Centres. The answer has been to compile a series of case reports. Report writing by coordinators is part of an intensive training programme. Most of the coordinators had not written a report before attending the training workshops and most are writing in a second language. The approach adopted in compiling these reports is one of minimal editing in order to retain the individual style of each coordinator and the rich texture of the writing. The Co-ordinators/Paralegals have benefited form the publication of their reports in that there is a sharing of information about problem solving as well as healthy competition in the compilation of reports that will be suitable for publication. The outcome is greater proficiency in the drawing up of bi-monthly reports. A new dimension has been added to the case reports. Extracts have been taken from the issues raised by the Co-ordinators in their reports for the attention of the Director, and these have been included in the recent Case Report publication. These extracts provide a rich textured insight into the day- to-day activities at the Outreach/Support Centres. This also provides greater in-depth sharing of information among the Co-ordinators/Paralegals.
